Kenta (Interwhao's Staff)
share house in Japan, Tokyo. [interwhao] > Happiness Report > House information > Green Share Chofu + Garden Bicycle Port!
Hello!
This is Kenta from Interwhao.
I went for a bicycle ride around the newly opened “Green Share Chofu + Garden“!
The Nishi-Chofu area has a stadium where you can watch soccer games, an airfield, a botanical garden, a temple, and many other places of interest!
This time, we’re going to take a bicycle tour of the area from the property!
Let’s start from the newly renovated bike port in the courtyard!
After 4 or 5 minutes from the house, you will see the “Ajinomoto Stadium”.
The stadium, commonly known as “Ajista,” has a main court where soccer and rugby matches are held, as well as a gymnasium and a swimming pool, where major tournaments are held.
On this day, the match between FC Tokyo and Urawa Reds was held.
The sports store right next to Ajista sells cheering goods for the event!
It only takes about 15 minutes to walk there from the House, so you can go there every time there is a game….
What could be better than going to cheer with your house mates and coming home together with memories that never cool down!
Passing through the road between Ajinomoto Stadium, where such exciting games are sometimes held, you will be greeted by “Stadium Street” lined with cherry blossom trees!
It’s still a little early in the season, so the cherry trees are still in bud, but I’m already looking forward to seeing the cherry blossoms when I think that the entire street will be covered with them…
As you walk through this beautiful street lined with cherry blossom trees, you will see the “Tokyo University of Foreign Studies”!
A large object of TUFS welcomes you.
It took us about 7 minutes to get there from the House!
TUFS is a university that offers a wide variety of languages, and our share house is no different in terms of international exchange!
Many people come to Japan to attend Japanese language school.
There are also those who choose to live in our share house because they want to study Japanese, and you can feel their Japanese language skills improving as they get better and better.
Now, let’s go to the opposite side of the street from “Ajinomoto Stadium” and “Tokyo University of Foreign Studies”.
The stadium is surrounded by a large park, a baseball field open to the public, soccer courts, and other active facilities.
Alongside these facilities is the “Chofu Airport”.
Apart from Narita and Haneda airports, there is another airfield in Chofu.
Chofu Airport is located about 10 minutes from the House by bicycle.
The destinations are Izu Oshima, Niijima, Miyakejima, and other Izu Islands.
Although the name “Izu” is included in the name of the islands, they are firmly located in Tokyo and can be reached by a 25-45 minute flight.
It is a very attractive airport where you can fly to the islands in a little over an hour from the house.
It might be a good idea to go to the Izu Islands to see dolphins!
There is also an observation deck where you can watch the flight!
You can enjoy lunch or tea while watching the flight at the “Propeller Cafe”.
Located right next to the runway, the cafe serves omelette rice, hamburgers, pasta, and other dishes that are very hearty!
This time, We ordered a chiffon cake and a parfait with a cute airplane shaped cookie!
They were reasonably priced at 500 and 600 yen, but very tasty and filling!
I was so satisfied that I was almost full, even though I still had lunch left to eat.
From the café, you can also see helicopters and Cessnas, which are not usually flying.
There were so many fascinating aircraft that I couldn’t help but wonder how I could get an airplane license.
After leaving the airport, we took a leisurely bicycle ride along the Nogawa River.
There are many people taking a walk along the river, and it is a point where you can get some healing in the city.
There were also cherry trees here, so you may be able to enjoy cherry blossom viewing.
After passing along the river, you will see “Jindaiji Temple” and “Jindai Botanical Park”.
It takes about 13 minutes by bicycle from the house. “Jindaiji Street” is a slightly old-fashioned street lined with soba noodle shops.
This time, we decided to have lunch at this restaurant.
Freshly fried tempura and warm soba noodles!
A gentle taste that soaks into our tired body after cycling!
The soba noodles are thin and thin, and I finished them quickly and smoothly.
All of the restaurants are tastefully built like old houses, which makes me want to come back to eat soba again!
As soon as you enter the approach to Jindaiji Temple, you will find “Kitaro Teahouse”.
Chofu is said to be the second hometown of “Shigeru Mizuki”, the creator of “Gegege no Kitaro” and the place where he lived for many years.
In addition to Jindaiji Temple, there are many other “Gegege” spots in Chofu City!
Jindaiji Temple is well known as a temple to ward off bad luck, and is also famous as one of the three major Daruma doll fairs in Japan.
A festival called “Yaku-yoke Gensan Daishi Daisai Matsuri” is held every year on March 3rd and 4th.
More than 300 stalls line the approach to the temple, making it a spectacular festival.
Visit the main hall and try your hand at Omikuji!
Here at Jindaiji Temple, you can draw the Genzan-daishi mikuji, which is said to be the origin of omikuji.
The result was “Kichi”!
Next to “Daikichi,” it was a good result, and I was very satisfied!
However, the omikuji is not easy to read because of the difficult text of the oracle…
In such a case, you can ask the person at the awarding place and he will gently tell you the interpretation.
Next to Jindaiji Temple is the “Jindai Botanical Park”.
It was originally a part of the temple, but now it is a botanical park loved by people of all ages.
Admission is a reasonable 500 yen!
Visitors can enjoy cherry blossoms and azaleas from late March, and roses in May.
We visited in mid-February, when the flowers were still in bud…
But we were not discouraged, so let’s go inside and take a tour!
Even if it’s cold outside, the greenhouse will protect them!
Inside are tropical plants, insectivorous plants, cactuses, and other slightly strange plants.
Orchids blooming beautifully (April~May is the blooming season, but in the greenhouse, it seems to be February~March!)
Outside the greenhouse is a perfectly symmetrical French-style garden.
Come May, you will be able to admire the beautiful garden surrounded by roses!
There is also a grassy field, and I could spend a whole day just at Jindaiji Temple and the botanical garden!
There is also a hot spring nearby, so you can heal your body after a long day of walking!
Now, the last place we headed to was “International Christian University,” commonly known as ICU!
It only takes about 17 minutes by bicycle from the house!
The way is simple as you just go straight down the “Tenmondai Street”.
You can even take the bus on rainy days!
That’s it for our cycling tour around “Green Share Chofu + Garden”!
We have introduced you to some of the most attractive areas of Chofu.
There is still a lot to explore around Jindaiji Temple and Jindai Botanical Park!
I also want to go on a “Gegege” tour!
And above all, we want to go cherry blossom viewing with everyone! That’s what I thought during the cycling tour.
“Green Share Chofu + Garden” is currently looking for new residents!

Each room is equipped with a Wi-Fi router, and there is also a working room where you can work or study!
